Edward Stratemeyer: The Man Who Created Nancy Drew
Edward Stratemeyer was an American author and publisher who created the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series of children's mystery books. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on October 4, 1862. Stratemeyer began his career as a journalist, but he soon turned to writing fiction. In 1893, he founded the Stratemeyer Syndicate, which published books for young readers. Stratemeyer wrote more than 1,300 books under various pseudonyms, including Franklin W. Dixon, Victor Appleton, and Laura Lee Hope. He also created the Bobbsey Twins and Tom Swift series.
