Round 3: *sc in the ch 1 space, sc in the next sc; repeat from * around, joining with a sl st to the first sc.

Finishing: Weave in loose ends and block the blanket to desired dimensions.

Bright Ripple Afghan Pattern

Materials:

  • worsted-weight yarn in 5 different colors (approximately 200 yards each)
  • crochet hook size I (5.50 mm)
  • tapestry needle

Instructions:

Foundation Row: Chain 151 (or any odd number multiple of 6 + 2).

Row 1: *sc in the second chain from the hook, sc in each chain across; repeat from * across. Turn. (150 sc)

Rows 2-15: Repeat Row 1.

Ripple Pattern:Row 1: *sc in the next 3 sc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in the next sc, sc in the next 3 sc; repeat from * across. Turn. Row 2: *sc in the next 4 sc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in the next 3 sc, sc in the next 4 sc; repeat from * across. Turn. Rows 3-8: Repeat Rows 1 and 2, increasing the number of sc between the ripple stitches by 1 in each row.

Stripe Pattern: Change yarn colors every 2 rows, repeating Rows 1-8 until the desired length is reached.

Border:Round 1: sc around the entire blanket, joining with a sl st to the first sc. Round 2: *sc in the next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc; repeat from * around, joining with a sl st to the first sc. Round 3: *sc in the ch 1 space, sc in the next sc; repeat from * around, joining with a sl st to the first sc.
